Minnesota Twins
Rookie Pitcher, Scott Baker, was born on September 19,
1981 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated in 2000
from Captain Shreve (LA) High School and was selected
to the All-State baseball team in his senior year. He
attended Oklahoma State University where he was named
Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2001. He
was drafted in the 2nd round in 2003 by the Twins and
was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues
on May 7, 2005.
Scott began the 2005 season in
the minors playing for Rochester. He was 2-0, 1.09 (33.0
ip, 4 er) in 6 starts and was recalled May 3. He made
his major league debut in relief, May 7 at Tampa Bay.
He made his first career start, July 5 at Los Angeles.
He bounced back and forth from the minors to the big
leagues, but recorded his first major league win July
23, 2005 at Detroit. He was permanently placed on the
pitching rotation at the end of August 2005 to replace
struggling pitcher Joe Mays.
Scott Baker will likely serve as the Twins'
number five starter in the 2006 rotation.
