About
Ike's Food and Cocktails :-
One look at the neon sign outside or the gorgeous
antique wood bar running the length of the narrow
room, and you'd swear this place has been around
since the '30s. Former Pickled Parrot owner Chip
Isaacson designed Ike's as a tribute to his dad
and it's a nostalgic chic that works: professional
bartenders, friendly servers, World War II memorabilia
and plates emblazoned with "Ike's."
As a throwback to better times,
the menu is full of comforting fare. Lunchtime
features succulent, hand-carved roast beef sandwiches,
huge hand-patted burgers, or chili thick with
shredded beef and rich spice. For dinner, start
with chunky, fresh guacamole and hot chips. Moist
roasted chicken with creamy mashed potatoes and
gravy--the Blue Plate Special--is as good as Mom's.
You could have a hunk of cheesecake for desert,
but the complimentary warm chocolate chip cookies
that come with your bill are more than satisfying.
The food is good and the restroom experience is
equally fantastic. Instead of gaudy ads above
the urinals, there are televisions set up so you
can watch sporting events. On the floor, in tiles
are the words "P-Nice". Use their real
cotton towels to dry your hands, all in an atmosphere
that matches that of the rest of this restaurant/bar.
If you’re searching for a great burger,
Ike's may just have the best one in the Cities.
The Fun 30’s décor and friendly staff
make this a great stop while downtown.
