Pitching Coach, Rick Anderson, was born November 29,
1956 in Everett, WA. He was a 1975 graduate of Mariner
(WA) High School where he was selected to the All-State
team in his senior year. He attended Everett Community
College and the University of Washington. He was drafted
by the New York Mets in the 24th round pick of the June,
1978 free agent draft.
Rick has experience pitching both in the minors
and in the Major League. In 1979, he recorded an exciting
9-inning no-hitter vs. Shreveport. In 1985, he was named
to International League All-Star team and in 1986 he
finally made his major league debut, June 9 vs. Philadelphia.
His first major league win came 2 months later vs. Chicago.
In 1987, Rick was acquired by the Kansas City Royals
along with catcher Ed Hearn and pitcher Mauro Gozzo
from New York in exchange for pitcher David Cone and
catcher Chris Jelic. He began the season on their Omaha
minor league team, but was promoted and pitched a season-high
7.1 innings, June 22 at Chicago.
In 1989, he joined the Twins' organization as a pitching
coach for rookie level Sarasota. From 1990-92, he was
the pitching coach for Class A Kenosha and from 1993-94
for Class AA Nashville. In 1995, he got promoted again
and was the pitching coach for Class AAA Salt Lake.
He finally landed a spot in the big leagues in 2002
with the Twins as their primary pitching coach.
