Brian Buscher was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 18, 1981. Buscher was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 3rd round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft. Brian Buscher spent 2003-2006 in the Giants farm system making it as high as the Double-A Connecticut Defenders.
In December 2006, Brian Buscher was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the Rule 5 Draft. The Twins bought Brian’s contract on July 26, 2007. Brian Buscher finished the 2007 season with a .244 batting average, 2 home runs and 10 runs batted in over the course of 33 games
During the 2008 Minnesota Twins season Brian Buscher started with the Twins’ AAA affiliate Rochester Red Wings. He was called up from April 20 to April 30. During those games Brian Buscher batted .250 in 8 at bats. When he went back to the Rochester Red Wings he batted .328 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 27 RBI in 51 games.
Brian Buscher was recalled again to the MLB Twins on June 12. Brian Buscher replaced Mike Lamb as the third baseman and earned the nickname “The Urban Legend” because he batted .297 with 47 runs while playing with the MN Twins for the rest of the season.
